An Undergraduate Final Year Project Leading to a Q1 Journal Publication
Our Remote Sensing research group at MARC has received an acceptance for publication in IEEE JSTARS (Q1, SCIE; Impact Factor: 5.3).
Proud to share that our Remote Sensing research group at the Multidisciplinary AI Research Centre, University of Peradeniya, has received an acceptance for publication in IEEE JSTARS (Q1, SCIE; Impact Factor: 5.3).
Our work, “Mamba-FCS: Joint Spatio-Frequency Feature Fusion, Change-Guided Attention, and SeK Inspired Loss for Enhanced Semantic Change Detection in Remote Sensing,” advances computer vision for remote sensing toward more reliable AI-powered systems. Semantic change detection is vital for mapping how environments evolve and for real-world decision-making, including disaster management, precision agriculture, urban growth monitoring, and broader environmental change analysis.
In our experiments, the proposed method outperforms recent state-of-the-art approaches, demonstrating strong potential for practical deployment. This achievement is especially meaningful to us as it emerged from one of our final-year undergraduate projects, carried out entirely within a University of Peradeniya–affiliated team.
