Premature Birth Detection Research at MARC

Our research group at the Multidisciplinary AI Research Centre (MARC), University of Peradeniya, is tackling a critical global health issue: premature birth detection.

With 15 million preterm births annually, early identification is vital. This project analyzes Electromyometrial (EHG) signals using advanced denoising, precise segmentation, and robust feature extraction techniques to build highly accurate predictive machine learning models.

Our team is also designing a prototype EHG data collection device. By combining electronic engineering, hardware prototyping, and AI, we aim to deliver early detection systems that support maternal healthcare and save lives.
